Quiet

I had a really normal, quiet day in the studio today and it felt so nice. I haven’t had that in so long. I forget every year how much September puts me through the wringer with the shift of back to school and fall sports and so many activities happening every day and night. Our family stretched even thinner than normal this fall for a few extra reasons and the combo of all of it has changed our usual rhythms. I’m feeling like a duck on the water, riding the waves. Let’s be real, sometimes they wash over me. But ducks were made to swim, and we keep finding our ways back up to the surface, right? My mom always points out that ducks are waterproof and the drops just roll right off their backs. It’s what I’m always trying to channel.

Crazy times make me so grateful for the days when the waters are still and calm. Like today. When I mixed a lovely shade of purple and watched my brush make the fluid motion of laying down paint and creating something beautiful that didn’t exist before.

Life is full of wonder, isn’t it? There’s something to learn from it all. ❤️
