Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to Art & Soup this week! I really enjoyed talking to so many of you as you stopped by my booth and shared your love of art. Thank you to everyone who purchased something both from me and from all my friends/fellow artists. We are so grateful for every single one of you who takes a piece back to your homes or gives it as a gift to your loved ones. These shows always take so much work of prep beforehand and long hours being there, but I feel so lifted when I stand in front of a painting with one of you and hear how it reminds you of your childhood or of happy memories you have in places that you love. I love watching the smile that comes on your face where you're back there, just for a moment, feeling that joy. I love hearing that the people in the painting look EXACTLY like people in your real life and I'm so happy when you pull out your phone and show me how the painting matches the scene. It's the best and makes me love my job so much. You always ask me where the location is of something I painted, and the truth is I never want to answer because I like it so much better when it's YOUR place, when you project YOUR memory into it and YOUR people take over the impressionist loose placeholder people I've put there. That's where the magic is and when the painting is YOURS, as it should be.
