I'm reading a book about Tom Hanks. The author argues that one of the reasons we like him so much is that he finds the innate humanity in whatever character he's playing. Maybe we haven't been in that specific situation like them, but we connect with those feelings: loneliness, jealousy, nerves, boredom, love, excitement, overwhelm, etc. He taps into the PERSON, and we can see ourselves in them. I believe, like Anne Frank, that people are basically good at heart. I believe there is more we have in common than the differences that separate us. I love writers (like Brene Brown) or actors (like Tom Hanks) or instagram accounts (like humans of new york) that all seem to point to the same goals: let's have more grace for our fellow humans. Let's judge less and love and understand more.
