Art Lessons

Nothing keeps skills sharp like teaching them to others. My daughters have been begging for painting lessons, so here we go. I'm teaching them the basics, and in the process it's really good to remind myself. Sometimes we think we know so much, the more advanced we get in a skill, but it always comes back to the basics, doesn't it?

I'm a mom of small children and a professional painter and it's a tricky balancing act to do both, but I love moments like these when it all comes together. My kids may not ever understand trigonometry, but I'm pretty proud that my four year olds can tell you what the secondary colors are.
