Where We Started

““When I bought my house I was single and 30. I wasn’t sure I’d ever have a family of my own. But, I left open spaces in hopes of making that happen. My closets weren’t full and every room wasn’t used, it needed to be ready for “my” family. I got married at 32 1/2 and became a wife and stepmom to a five year old boy. This house brought us together and helped be a place of stability for all of us. We got pregnant twice there, had one miscarriage and one birth of a baby boy and endured endless fertility treatments. We had birthday parties and traditions for Christmas and Valentine’s Day. My husband and son built an RC race track on the side of the house until we could finish into a flagstone patio. My youngest son learned to ride a bike in the circle beside us and my oldest did bike jumps over firework fountains on the Fourth of July. The only tree or plant there was the crabapple right in the front and it took us five years to finish all the landscaping. We laughed and cried and grew together and did everything in our power to make it the best house for us.”
