Zions Bank Show
Years ago when I was still a blocked artist, I went to a church meeting and listened to a talk by Dieter F. Uchtdorf where he said this, “The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty” (see the whole message here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2008/10/happiness-your-heritage.p50?lang=eng). Those words struck such a chord for me and gave me hope that maybe I wasn’t a lost cause. Here we are, eleven years later, and I’m so humbled that tonight the Uchtdorf family went home with one of my paintings (the big snow one behind us, which reminded them of their childhood). I love and respect them all so much and am so honored that my work will hang on their walls. Thank you to everyone who bought a painting tonight and to Zions Bank for hosting such a wonderful art show. My heart is really full ❤️❤️❤️.
