My six year old was sitting on my lap most of the time I was painting this. He is obsessed with both Star Wars and Avengers, so it really came as no surprise when he said, "Mom, what if you had powers and you could use the force and just zap! your painting would be done??" I love his creative mind. But the truth is, I wouldn't wish that at all. The magic of painting, for me, is not just having the finished product, but the fun of mixing the colors and applying big globs of paint and shading the subject and filling in the negative space with shapes. Like so many other things we do with our bodies or minds, the joy isn't in the destination, it's in the movement on the journey of getting there.

In February, I’m challenging myself to do a painting EVERY DAY!! The paintings will explore the theme of love stories- romantic love, parental love, self-love, love for nature, etc. As some of my favorite artists said, “in the end the love you give is equal to the love you make.” Therefore, I will always be on a quest to fill the world with as much love as I can. You’ll be able to see all the paintings at #lovestoriesstephhock.

Here’s how it will work: every painting will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Because they will each go to the first person to comment “sold,” you’ll want to turn on your push notifications so you can be notified each time I post a new painting! They’ll all be 6x6 inches and cost $185 each (plus tax and shipping.) Once a painting is claimed, you’ll see “🔴 SOLD” at the beginning of the caption (you can always claim second or third place in line in case the first sale doesn’t work out). Happy month of LOVE! ❤️
