Empty and Filled

1909 Empty and Filled 8x10.jpg

There was a day last week where I gave myself two hours and sat on the couch finishing a novel I was so excited about. After so many days this last month working so hard all day and into the night, something like this felt so deliciously indulgent. True there’s always more to do, but I’m not a machine who can work nonstop. Carving out space to invest in myself— to sit in the sunlight and fill my head with intelligent words that make me think critically and deeply— that does so much more for my soul than running myself ragged trying to finish the to do list. I found that afterward, I went back to my work and my life with a renewed enthusiasm. The well inside of me was full again and consequently, I could nourish everything else I needed to feed. What have you done to feed your soul lately? [“Empty and Filled”, 8x10, available at 15th Street Gallery]
