Respite

I painted this because the act of doing it was soothing to my soul. As I mixed up the ocean blue, I could hear the waves crashing in and out. As I mixed the yellow ochre and cad red light and cobalt blue and hint of burnt umber to get the shade of the sand, I could feel my feet sinking further into the wet sand as the ocean pulls in and out. The act of painting these shapes and these colors was as soothing as the scene I was hoping to capture. The process as beautiful as the product. I love my job.
