In the Light
Two of my favorite things to paint are trees and shadows and I especially love a painting that showcases both of them. I’m fascinated by the way light filters through them both and makes new shapes in the negative space. It reminds me of life—that things rarely work out the way we imagine, but there’s a lot of beauty in the new shapes our lives make. That sometimes the absence creates more. This weekend I listened as @dieterfuchtdorf talked about “letting some things go and letting other things grow.” I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind since, the idea that giving some things up might make space in our lives for better things to grow. The light finding those spaces in between and making new and beautiful shapes.
This new painting, “In the Light” (9x12), will be at @utahartmarket starting this Thursday! Swipe for details.
