First Run

I was talking to a friend at lunch yesterday about her goals for this year. She said she has a friend who gets up really early in the morning and spends thirty minute increments doing things that are important to her. By 10 am she has already accomplished so much and is making progress on things she really cares about and wants to learn and get better at. I get that not all of us have the luxury of spending the early morning hours doing whatever we want. But in the last couple months, I've set my alarm a little earlier and have been working on just a couple things that are important to me. And sure enough, it's making a difference! Instead of ending the day feeling frustrated about the things I didn't get in, I'm ending the day feeling grateful that I got the things that were most important in and the rest of the day could then go wherever it needed to go. As a lifelong nightowl, it's been hard for me to embrace the morning hours. But every time I do, I feel so happy and better balance in my life. Here's to the first run of the day. May it be your best.
