Majestic Mountains I
There’s a secret that the people who live in Salt Lake know. Every night, the western sun treats us to a show and lights up all the eastern mountains along the wasatch front in the most glorious hues of pinks and purples and reds and golds. It’s STUNNING. It’s better than any light show at Disneyland or firework display at a parade. The magical wonder of alpenglow plus golden hour on these glorious huge, gorgeous mountains in front of us all the time is enough to regularly stop us in our tracks and take our breath away. We’ll be walking out of the grocery store and just stop, dumbfounded and stare. We’ll be sitting at a soccer game and be distracted from the players by the show. We’ll be driving home from work, coming around corners trying to get the best view around the trees so we can fully appreciate it. Because of the angles of the mountains and the fast changing light, it only stays this way for a short time and then it’s gone, but WOW is it incredible.
This angle of Mount Olympus is my favorite (from Murray, my home, where it always looks “right” to me with the twin peaks). But I also love another peak I can always see at sunset out my studio window that always turns pink. And since I couldn’t pick my favorite angle of the mountains, I painted them both! Stay tuned tomorrow for part two!
