Peach Jars

Something about the callback to simpler times. Something about the homemade quality. Something about remembering my mom and grandma canning peaches when I was little (mom, did this really happen? Did I make this up?) but definitely remembering sitting in my grandmas kitchen all decorated with the geese themed decor and wallpaper and eating peaches that came from jars. Something about my father-in-law who used to bring us jarred peaches when we were first married and how nice that was in our poor newlywed days. Something about visiting an older friend in my neighborhood last month just as she was finishing canning her peaches and I didn’t realize people still did that. Something about being surprised a week ago when my husband came home from work and said one of his students brought him a jar of peaches from his family.

It might look like a jar of peaches, but it’s really a jar of love 🍑 🫙❤️
