Washington DC
Last week I tagged along with my husband on a business trip to DC. He had a lot of fun listening to the the President speak and meeting with our representatives at the Capitol. We both got to go on a special tour of the Capitol building with one of our Congressmen and it was so wonderful. Regardless of where you stand politically, it’s hard to not feel a reverent awe when they tell you, “You’re standing outside the door where Lincoln was making decisions about the Civil War…” I felt so humbled about the magnitude of the history of my country and such a desire to see it continue to be a great nation. While Adam was in a lot of meetings, I ended up with plenty of time on my own. I used to travel a lot by myself in my 20’s and I loved it. But you know who really can use a trip all by herself? A mom in her 40’s! It was kind of luxurious to wander wherever I wanted and eat whatever food I was in the mood for and stand in museums as long as I wanted without having to accommodate anyone else’s needs. And DC is such a great place for museums! I filled all up on inspiration and joy and then got to meet up with my husband when I was tired of being alone. Best of all the worlds. And, as always, my camera and I find future paintings wherever I go… 🌸🌸🌸
