Snapshots Show

I've been so busy painting for a big art show I have opening on May 17th (a week from Friday). Some paintings are what you know and expect from me. But I also really wanted to play with some new ideas, stretch myself creatively, try new things. Sometimes there is art you just have to make, regardless of what people are going to think on the other side. I had so much fun making these new paintings and was also a little nervous about releasing them with this show... will they still look like me? One day my daughter was in my studio and I was talking to her about these feelings and she said, "Mom, you're Taylor Swift. If she can have her Eras, so can you." I loved her for that. If Beyonce can make a country album and Taylor can have alllll her eras, who says that any of us have to stick with one style or genre all of our creative lives? Why not keep artistically playing in whatever direction we're moved to play in, right? It's exciting and energizing and fresh and wonderful.
