Embarking on the next adventure

Recently finished this commission for a family whose daughter was graduating high school. Her mom wanted something to reflect how it felt for them as parents to be standing next to her as they watched her grow and also in this unique moment as they were standing on the brink, sending her off into her next adventure hoping everything would go smoothly. They love to ski together and so this fit both a literal and figurative message perfectly. We were even able to capture their specific coats and hats and ski clothes so that each person looked like themselves. In our conversations, my collector said, "We are all affected by the 'alpenglow' colors on the mountain." And, I'll admit, I didn't know what alpenglow meant. I looked it up and it means, "the rosy hue of mountains glowing at sunrise or sunset." I was so happy, because, I LOVE alpenglow as well! I have so many photos on my phone of that exact, beautiful phenomenon, so absolutely, yes we can add that to the painting. Commissions are so much fun and I learn new things every time. The graduate loved the painting and is currently packing up and taking it off to college with her, so she can have a little piece of home wherever she goes. ❤️⛷️🏔️
