Commissions (choose your size)

SURFACE: Commissions are original acrylic paintings on 1.5 or 2-inch deep cradled panel board. Edges of painting are painted black and varnished, and back of painting is wired, so no framing is required. Paintings larger than 36x48 are painted on canvas, but still edged black, varnished and wired. If Collector prefers specific surface, please include in “special instructions” during checkout.

PAYMENT: There are two choices for payment (see above). Collector can either pay the full amount upfront or pay in two payments (a deposit when the project starts and a final payment when the project is finished). If Collector would like the payment broken into smaller payments, please email the Artist at steph@stephaniehock.com. Deposit is non-refundable but can be used toward another project if Collector changes mind. Once painting is complete and final payment is paid, all sales are final.

TIMING: Commission timing is based on Artist’s availability. Paying a deposit or full amount secures a place on the Artist’s schedule and will be fit in among current commitments and projects. If art is requested by a specific date, please include that in “special instructions” during checkout and Artist will follow up about options.

PROCESS: Collector can request a version of any painting Artist has already done that has previously sold or a variation that’s similar. Collector can also request a new painting based on Collector’s own photos or photos Collector has permission to use. If project falls outside either of these, please contact Artist for further discussion. Artist and Collector will agree on subject before the painting is started. If a preliminary sketch is requested, Artist will provide that before the painting is started and Collector will have the chance to approve or discuss changes. Artist will paint the painting using artistic discretion to both reflect Collector’s wishes and also create a beautiful piece of art. Artist reserves the right to make decisions about composition, color, value and other artistic principles when creating the painting. Artistic style is loose and impressionist and will not be a realistic recreation of reference photo (see portfolio on website for examples of style). When painting is complete, Artist will email a high res photo of painting to Collector for final approval. Artist and Collector can discuss any changes and then Artist will finish, edge, varnish and wire the painting. Once final payment has been paid, Collector can pick up the painting from the Artist’s studio or have it shipped.

REFERENCE PHOTOS: Please email reference photos to steph@stephaniehock.com. Collector should only send photos that belong to the Collector or that they have the permission to use. Copyrighted photos cannot be used without written permission from owner.

COPYRIGHT: The Artist retains the copyright of the commissioned painting(s) and may use image(s) of painting however she chooses. The Collector will receive the original painting. Art may not be reproduced or published in any other way without the Artist’s written permission.
