June 25th: Of Dance with Stephanie Hock, Marketa Sivek and Carole Wade.

Hock, Sivek and Wade have all been working on paintings related to dance, and we're very excited to see the curtain go up for gallery stroll on June 25th.

Join us from 6-9pm for the opening and meet artist Marketa Sivek.

Sivek's airy dresses suggest ballet costumes, and are a lovely compliment to the figurative paintings that Hock and Wade are creating for Of Dance.

"Dancers have such a visual beauty in the way they move their bodies. There is both an energy in the motion, and also a graceful stillness in each pose. The ongoing dichotomy of these two things in dance has always fascinated me. These paintings have been refreshing to paint because I felt a unity with the subject, almost like my arm and hand was an extension of the dance as I painted. I wanted to convey with my strokes that beautiful movement that a dancer conveys with their body. I painted bold, and wanted the figures to be loose enough that the viewer could find themselves in the painting, or feel a harmony with the subjects". Stephanie Hock
