The Masters
You can always tell who the painters are in a museum, cause they're the ones sticking their noses up close to the canvas, trying to see the artist's brushwork and texture (a detail of "The Bedroom" by Van Gogh). If only I could bring Cezanne's (my favorite!) colors, composition, and lines, Pissarro's texture, Gaugin's shapes, Monet's understanding of light and contrast and Van Gogh's brushwork into my work. Wouldn't that be the dream? Spending a day studying originals from my favorite Impressionists at the Art Institute of Chicago was amaaaaazing. Can't wait to get home and paint! 🎨
