Not Waiting For Permission

image.jpg

["Not Waiting For Permission" 10x10, available this Friday at Art Access!] This painting says so much about how I felt this year with my career. Not waiting for anyone to tell me I was good enough. Not waiting for approval from exterior sources. Not waiting for permission to do the things I wanted to do. Not standing by jealously watching others create a splash.  I got brave, ran forward and jumped off and really good things have happened because of it. I love the position of this girl (my daughter, Lucy), not just timidly stepping off, but adventurously opening her arms, ready to embrace whatever's ahead. She inspires me to do the same.
