Piles of Practice

Quick little study this morning for a larger painting. This took me about an hour and is a good way to play with shapes, compositions and colors to prep for a bigger, final piece. I’m loving these fast studies on paper. I read once that artists should have “piles of bad art in their studios” and I love the thought of that. Piles of practice mean we’re teaching our hands and brains the muscle memory and when it’s time to work on important things we’ve got it already ingrained in us. Here’s to piles and piles of practice!
