Mountains

Finished this commission recently for a wonderful friend I’ve known since Junior high who loves running. She runs marathons (qualified for Boston the year it got cancelled 😭) and is running ultra-marathons later this year. I’m so inspired by her. This is her favorite mountain to climb and as I painted it, it made me think a lot about the figurative mountains I have climbed and am climbing. They always feel so grueling, climbing is hard! Learning is hard! But I love the feeling of knowing I pushed myself harder than I thought I could. I love doing things that scare me and surprising myself that I actually can do something I thought I couldn’t (in the middle of one right now).
