Fine Dining

This started out as a casual cafe scene, but I painted that front woman in red and she looked so elegant that it changed the whole vibe. I still love the opposites on the color wheel and I wanted to help her pop, so I mixed the deepest, richest green that leans a little blue. Because everything felt elevated into those rich tones—the way you feel when you walk into a nice restaurant and all the waiters are wearing those crisp white shirts and you put a cloth napkin on your lap and the whole experience is suddenly nicer. You’re not home in your pajamas heating something in the microwave. You’re sitting at a fancy table, being served, bathed in golden light, listening to soft music playing somewhere. You’re treating all your senses and for all the hard things we go through in life, this momentary culinary pleasure can be such a gift—such an escape. Such a nice reward to laugh and listen to people you love and feed your body and soul. Life is the little things. And over and over, they add up to joy.
