After Hours

I put the last coats of varnish on my last pieces for the #135show tonight. I’m so excited for you to see everything I’m bringing. It’s such a satisfying feeling at the end of a long work day when I hang up my apron and look around my studio at all the work I’ve accomplished. Some days I for sure get frustrated and discouraged. But often, I feel really proud of myself and the things I’m learning or something I did well that day. I like making work that makes me happy to look at and I like when things surprise me in a painting that I didn’t see coming and there’s a little magic that happens. I love when my family members pop in and out of my studio and we can delight in fun things they like or they’re wowed by the progress on a panting since they last saw it. Being a full-time artist is a lot of work, but man is it fun work to do.

“After Hours” 8x8, available Saturday at the 135 Show @utahartmarket located at the @cottonwoodccutah! Show will be up for one night only from 5-8:00 pm. See you there!
