Beach Creators
One of the reasons I love painting figures is because I love capturing their stories. I take photos of strangers everywhere, but in my head I make up rich backstories about who they are and what their relationships are and what they’re thinking and doing. It’s an entertaining game, but it also makes me see the humanity in everyone. Everyone becomes my child, my brother, my aunt, my friend. I feel this big burst of love and joy and find myself rooting for them—please don’t let that wave come and destroy the sandcastle you’ve been working so hard on. Ha! Victory! It lives to see another day! Their joy is my joy. Tiny moments of wonder. People are the best.
