Art matters

Yesterday I wouldn’t let my son leave for a friends house until all four of my kids could tell me the definition of saturated color and how it’s different from color values and why those things matter in a painting because it’s where they pull your eyes and we want to control the focal point. This summer we were on vacation, standing in an art museum (as we do) and I was explaining to a couple of my kids about the rules of thirds in paintings and how much math plays into composition and then we kept finding it everywhere we could (and even picked up an extra friend who was eavesdropping and really wanted to join our party 😂😂). We are beyond the point where I can help my crazy smart kids with all their math and science homework. But I’ll be darned if they don’t grow up knowing a thing or two about visual aesthetics and art and design, regardless of what they do with their lives. We have to fight back against the robots. I can’t look at any more sludge. ART MATTERS.

Meanwhile, here I am in the studio, adding final strokes to everything I can for @artattheparkutah next week! Are you on my email list? Did you get my email? If not, send me a message and I’ll add you!
